Col. (Dr.) Kirk N. Liesemer is a pediatric cardiologist who received his commission as a Medical Corps Officer in 2005 after graduating with a medical degree from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. Col. Liesemer is also a graduate of the Army Medical Department Officer Basic and Advanced courses, Combat Casualty Care Course, Tactical Combat Medical Care Course, Brigade Surgeon Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Division Surgeon Course.
Col. Liesemer currently serves as the Director of Medical Education at Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord. Previous assignments include Pediatric Intern and Resident at MAMC, JBLM; General Pediatrician at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; Squadron Surgeon, 3-71 Cavalry, Afghanistan; Pediatric Cardiology Fellow, University of Utah, Salt Lake City; Pediatric Cardiologist and Chief of Pediatric Cardiology, MAMC, JBLM; Brigade Surgeon, 2-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, JBLM; Associate Program Director of the Transitional Year Residency, MAMC; Program Director of the Pediatrics Residency, MAMC.
Col. Liesemer’s awards and decorations include the Combat Medical Badge, Meritorious Service Medal (two Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Armed Forces Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Combat Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Service Ribbon.
