About Us
David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, California, is the Air Force's largest medical center, serving military beneficiaries throughout eight western states. It is a fully accredited hospital caring for more than 500,000 Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs beneficiaries in the San Francisco – Sacramento vicinity.
DGMC operates the largest Graduate Medical Education program in the Air Force, consisting of nine Medical, two Dental, and six Allied Health programs. DGMC's acclaimed Family Medicine program, is the largest in the Air Force. The General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Internal Medicine Residency programs treat civilian and military patients in partnership with the University of California at Davis. DGMC also hosts Diagnostic Radiology and Transitional Year Residency Programs, a Sports Medication Fellowship, and Dental Programs including Advanced Education in General Dentistry and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Allied Health Programs include Physician Assistants, Orthopedic Physician Assistant Fellowship, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Social Work programs. Additionally, DGMC offers six Phase II training programs for enlisted medical technicians and four Nurse Transition Program for 310 students annually.
One of the most exciting and unique components of DGMC is the Air Force Clinical Investigation Facility. At the CIF, residents have the opportunity to participate in cutting edge medical research, ranging from trauma resuscitation to sepsis treatment in space. As one of three CIFs in the Air Force, the CIF at DGMC is the only one that proudly partners with the United States Space Force and NASA. In support of space related medical research, the CIF is currently conducting several Space/Austere Medicine Mission projects.
