Defense Health Network West

Defense Health Network West is headquarters for 9 military treatment facilities, including 2 medical centers, 4 hospitals, 3 health clinics and 35 dental clinics. DHN West oversees a $1.2 billion Defense Health Program budget. The enterprise consists of approximately 7,040 federal civilians, 2,434 military, and 814 federal contractors. It supports approximately 264,590 enrolled beneficiaries.

The one-star command is co-located with U.S. Army Medical Readiness Command, West at Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, TX to support the integration of functions across both enterprises. U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Yolonda “YR” Summons currently serves as the Commanding General, Medical Readiness Command, West, and Director, Defense Health Network West.
