FALLS CHURCH, Virginia – The Defense Health Agency (DHA) announced today that TRICARE Open Season 2023 will begin Monday, Nov. 13, and run through Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023.
During TRICARE Open Season, eligible beneficiaries have three options:
- Stay in their current plan: no action is needed.
- Enroll in a plan once open season begins.
- Change plans: beneficiaries enrolled in TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select can switch plans and switch between individual and family enrollment.
Open season is the only time beneficiaries can make changes to their plan unless they experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE), such as retirement, a permanent change of address, a change in marital status, or the birth of a child.
TRICARE’s 2024 out-of-pocket costs are now available to help beneficiaries prepare for Open Season and learn about any cost changes that may affect them. Additionally, TRICARE will host a Facebook Live Event on Nov. 16, 2023, at 2 p.m. ET with an expert on TRICARE health plans to provide information and answer questions from beneficiaries.
All enrollment changes made during TRICARE Open Season go into effect on Jan. 1, 2024.
TRICARE beneficiaries may also be eligible for the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). Eligibility depends on beneficiary status. Those eligible will need to be enrolled in a TRICARE health plan to be eligible for vision coverage.
Federal Benefits Open Season is from Monday, Nov. 13 to Monday, Dec. 11, 2023. Visit BENEFEDS to check eligibility, compare FEDVIP plans and rates, enroll in a plan, and more. Plans and rates are now available.
TRICARE Open Season does not apply to beneficiaries enrolled in the following premium-based plans: TRICARE Retired Reserve; TRICARE Reserve Select; TRICARE Young Adult; TRICARE For Life; or Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP).
