Sgt. Jonathan K. Peney, of Marietta, Ga., was killed by enemy fire on June 1, 2010, while attempting to provide aid to a wounded Ranger in the Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. The 22-year-old Ranger was a highly trained medic on his fourth deployment to Afghanistan.
