Sgt. Jesse R. Tilton, 23, died July 16, 2010, at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of wounds sustained a few days earlier when insurgents attacked his unit in Kandahar City, Afghanistan, with a rifle, rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire. Tilton, of Decatur, IL, died of wounds he suffered while tending to another soldier under enemy fire. He was laid to rest in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, Ill., with full military honors.
