Staff Sergeant Darren P. Hubbell gave his life in service to his country on June 20, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq, when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle. In support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he served with the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, out of Fort Stewart, Georgia. Hubbell was buried in the Christian Life Fellowship Church Cemetery in his hometown of Met­ter, Georgia. Residents of the small town lined the streets as the funeral procession brought his body back home from Savannah, Georgia.
