Hospital Corpsman Second Class Charles Luke Milam, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, died September 25, 2007, while serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The 26-year-old Sailor was killed in an apparent ambush rocket attack while patrolling an opium poppy-growing area with coalition forces in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Milam was assigned to the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was laid to final rest with full military honors at Fort Logan Na­tional Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
