Navy Hospital Corpsman Aaron A. Kent was killed on April 23, 2005, when a road­side bomb exploded near his Humvee during combat operations near Fallujah, Iraq. Kent was assigned to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Funeral services were held May 4, 2005, at the New Hope Community Church in Portland, Oregon, and Kent was laid to rest at the Williamette National Cemetery.
