Sergeant Matthew J. He died as a result of injuries sustained in a rocket attack on the medical facility where he worked at Forward Operations Base Sainte, near Fallujah, Iraq. The attack also killed Lieutenant Colonel Mark Taylor, a physician with the 82nd Airborne Division, and wounded five Soldiers and one Sailor. Sandri was a paratrooper and medic who had served in Iraq since August 2003. Sandri’s memorial service was held in the town’s high school gym, the only place large enough to hold the number of mourners who attended, and he was buried in Saint Edwards Cemetery, Shamokin, Pennsylvania.
