Hospital Corpsman Third Class Julian Woods sacrificed his life for his country while fighting beside the Marines he was committed to saving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He died as a result of hostile fire on November 10, 2004, in Fallujah, Iraq. The 22-year-old was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division Detachment, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Several hundred friends and relatives gathered to honor their fallen hero on November 22, 2004, at the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He was laid to rest with full military honors in Riverside Memorial Park.
