Specialist Tamarra J. Ramos, an Army medical specialist attached to the Medical Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, out of Fort Car­son, Colorado, died of cancer on October 1, 2003, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. She had been air-evacuated from Iraq in August 2003 after she was diagnosed. Although she was aggressively treated with chemotherapy and other therapeutics, Ramos died at the medical center.
